SCHOOLS

Every coach, every field, the same call.

Afternoon sport on the Highveld and in KwaZulu-Natal runs straight into storm season. FlashAware sends STOP, PREPARE and ALL CLEAR to the sports office, coaches and grounds staff on WhatsApp and email, logs who acknowledged, and gives the school a record for the duty-of-care file.

Honest about speed. Satellite flash data typically reaches FlashAware 2–16 minutes after the flash, so the 20 km PREPARE ring does the early work. The 30/30 rule and your sports director's judgement come first; FlashAware adds reach and a record.

Built for how school sport actually runs

Phones, not just the siren

The U14 coach on the far field, the bus driver on the way to an away fixture, the aquatics manager — each gets the same WhatsApp at the same time, wherever they are.

One-tap acknowledge

Coaches tap once to confirm they have moved their teams. The sports office sees who has and who has not, and FlashAware escalates unacknowledged STOPs.

A record for the file

When a parent or governor asks what the school did at 15:07, the replay and the audit log answer in a minute.

How FlashAware fits a school's existing procedure

Most independent schools already have a written lightning procedure: a warning radius, a siren or hooter, a minimum all-clear wait and named decision-makers. FlashAware slots into that procedure rather than replacing it:

Your procedure says…

  • Warn when lightning is within 15–20 km
  • Suspend and shelter when it is within 10 km
  • Resume 30 minutes after the last activity
  • The sports director or duty teacher decides

FlashAware does…

  • PREPARE at the radius you set (default 20 km)
  • STOP at the radius you set (default 10 km)
  • ALL CLEAR only after your configured quiet period
  • Delivers to the people you name and records their acknowledgement

School questions

We already have a siren linked to a ground-sensor service. Why add this?

Keep it. A siren warns those within earshot while it sounds; FlashAware reaches named phones including off-campus, and keeps the acknowledgement record. The two together cover both the field and the file.

Does FlashAware hold any learner information?

No. Only staff recipients' names, emails and mobile numbers. See the privacy notice.

Can we cover more than one campus?

Yes — each campus is a site with its own radii and recipients. Ask for a group price.

What does it cost and how do we pay?

R3,990 season pass (October–March) per campus, or R499 per month; invoice and EFT are fine. Free 30-day trial first, no card.

Start before the next fixture.

30-day trial of the Club & School tier. Five minutes to set up.
